Disease Cure 365: Two Advantages to the Underserved

Disease Cure 365Disease Cure 365 reports that impoverished countries are trapped in the global economic and environmental situations. They are suffering in countless ways: export prices of freight, such as copper, rubber and tin, which have become a rarity; banks are removing their loans from emerging market economies; remittances are dropping; emigrant workers are being sent home; long-planned international investments are frozen at this time; and promised foreign aid is no longer available.

As a result, a rise in famine leaves entire populations susceptible to infectious diseases. Chronic undernourishment is a co-factor in about 1/3 of the 9m or so deaths per year of children under 5. Moreover, the numbers of people affected by violence, and environmental and economic disasters are sure to increase.

2 management breakthroughs are creating a way to a quick and low-cost scale-up of disease control attempts.

The 1st. is the emerging interest in community health workers. Considering the pervasiveness of international brain drain (still today) and the trouble of luring doctors to isolated villages, the public health community has finally considered the need to train villagers where they live.

The second breakthrough is m-health, which is defined as the application of mobile phones and other handheld wireless devices to assist the health sector.
Mobile phones do it all: educate the community health workers; link them to the clinics; make accessible an emergency response system; alert of disease outbreaks; track aid flows; and give telemedicine. This is making two definite advantages available to the impoverished communities.

Disease Cure 365: Acid Reflux's Connection to Cancer

Disease Cure 365Disease Cure 365 would like to warn everyone about acid reflux’s link to cancer!

In example, John "Monte" Mordecai was diagnosed 2 years ago with esophageal cancer. He died less than one year later at age sixty-three. In Monte’s honor and his memory, his daughter Mara, now thirteen years, wanted to inform everyone about this deadly disease. It claims nearly everyone diagnosed with it; hoping that no one else would lose their father to something that could have been caught sooner if only he had been aware.

On Sunday, Mara and her mother, Mindy Mintz Mordecai put on the 2nd Annual Dance for the Cure. Mara is attempting to raise money for esophageal cancer research and also to increase awareness of the disease that has been associated with acid reflux.

"If we had known that was a risk, he could have gone in for an endoscopy," reported Mordecai. "More people in America die every year of esophageal cancer than melanoma. And we all know about sunscreen."

About sixteen thousand four hundred and seventy new cases of esophageal cancer were diagnosed in 2008 - more than 2x the number of cases thirty years ago - and about fourteen thousand two hundred and eighty died of the disease last year, according to the American Cancer Society. However, not everyone with acid reflux will get cancer.

Disease Cure 365: A Cure For the Deaf?

Disease Cure 365Disease Cure 365 is fascinated with the idea of adding deafness to the list of conditions that someday with the help of stem cells a cure will be found. A new British study, published in Stem Cell Journal and reported on the Web site ChattahBox, concluded that fetal stem cells were manipulated by researchers to grow the auditory neurons that are vital to our ability to hear.

University of Sheffield researchers do not anticipate on utilizing the treatment on people for years; however, those who suffer permanent damage due to loud noise deafness could be cured in the future.

“This is really step one,” stated Dr. Neil Theise, director of the liver and stem cell research laboratory at New York's Beth Israel Medical Center. “For years people have been saying that we could take these stem cells and turn them into the sensory cells that line the ears and detect sounds. Now they’ve done it. The stem cells have been able to be turned into this very highly specialized cell type. This is very promising.”

A definite lead to a cure for people suffering with hearing loss has captivated the public’s attention into a promising future. Stay tuned…

Disease Cure 365: Multiple Diseases- A Time for Change

Disease Cure 365Disease Cure 365 determines that people with multiple diseases have many obstacles in essential living activities and medical research targeted towards such groups. In example, Mazie Piccolo (a patient suffering of multiple diseases) has many health problems that require extensive tracking. Congestive heart failure causes her to become short of breath and her legs to swell. An abnormal heart rhythm intensifies her risk for stroke. Following, arthritis in her knees makes it difficult to get around, and as a result she is no longer able to drive.

Interestingly, 2/3 of people over age sixty five, and almost ¾’s of people over eighty, have multiple chronic health conditions, and sixty eight percent of Medicare spending goes to people who have 5 or more chronic diseases.

Surprisingly, people with numerous health problems — a condition known as multimorbidity — are largely ignored both in medical research and in the nationwide clinics and hospitals. The default position is to treat complicated patients as various malfunctioning body parts instead of whole human beings. Now is the time for change and change demands attention from the medical professionals as well as all medical insurances!

Disease Cure 365: Lyme Disease a National Epidemic

Disease Cure 365Disease Cure 365 found that early stages of Lyme disease can reveal a wide-range of symptoms and it varies for each person. In addition to the first part of Lyme disease it can produce many co-infections which make a person much sicker. The treatment options are many and most aggressive treatment forms are not practiced by traditional western medicine. As a result, those of us who have the disease have to find our own treatment at our own expense.

Another form of Lyme disease can be transmitted in the uterus, through breast milk and blood transfusions. Some Lyme experts have concluded that the disease can be sexually transmitted due to the bacteria found in saliva and semen; this remains questionable.

In effect, diagnosing the illness is difficult to do. This is the result of faulty testing and diagnosis conducted in many parts of the United States. Not to mention Lyme disease is a national epidemic. In conclusion, it is detrimental that new testing and diagnosing become available for patients suffering of the disease.

Disease Cure 365: Uganda's Banana Virus Alert

Disease Cure 365Disease Cure 365 has regarded Uganda’s report, on the new incurable banana virus, as an alert that will hopefully be isolated soon. Accordingly, Uganda's national crop disease surveillance network has issued a possible alert outbreak of a new incurable banana virus. Dr Opolot Okasaai (the Director of Crop Resources in the Ministry of Agriculture), said the Banana Bunchy Top Virus (BBTV), is likely to attack Uganda from across Rwanda or DR-Congo. This will threaten the multi-million local banana industry produced annually. According to Dr Okasaai the virus does not have a cure so far, and all banana cultivars in the country are vulnerable to the attack. The government has assigned a scientific team to Rwanda to assess the danger. “We are also alerting all farmers and district agricultural officers, especially on the western borders to be on the lookout,” reported Dr Okasaai.

Disease Cure 365: A Ground Breaking Moment

Disease Cure 365Disease Cure 365 is excited to learn that Dr. Faustman's team at Boston University presented a research study targeting a cure for Type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is a cruel disease, in which the body does not produce the expected amount of hormone insulin to turn food into energy. New hope has developed in the research efforts at Massachusetts General. They have found a way to cure mice of this disease, and as a result their focus has turned to helping humans.

The team learned that eliminating disease-causing T cells permitted the mice to regenerate good cells and cure autoimmune illnesses, such as Type 1 diabetes. After Dr. Faustman presented the new research developments to the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine, she has begun human clinical trials, which could result in a cure for Type 1 diabetes. This is a groundbreaking moment for Disease Cure 365 and patients of Type 1 diabetes!

Disease Cure 365: In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD)

Disease Cure 365Disease Cure 365 researched the demand for in vitro dignostic products and learned about interesting concepets within the following report...According to Reportlinker.com, the US market for in vitro diagnostic (IVD) products will increase 5.4 % annually to twenty-three billion by 2013. Clinical chemistry and immunoassay methods will continue to hold the top 2 IVD sciences: the 1st. is based on sales of blood glucose monitors and test strips; the 2nd. is due to the penetration of high value-added chemiluminescent products into infectious disease and drug testing areas. Nucleic acid testing products will produce the fastest demand gains among IVD products based on throughput, sensitivity, accuracy and speed advantages, especially in the detection of infectious diseases and cancer. Because of increasing blood glucose monitoring among diabetic patients, endocrine condition testing will continue as the largest IVD application in 2013 and beyond.
